About CertPrepX
CertPrepX is an exam-preparation platform for professional certifications. This page explains how the material is built and verified, because for a study tool that is the only claim that matters.
Who builds it
CertPrepX is built and maintained by a small independent team. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with ISACA, ISC2, PMI, PECB, or any other certification body, and we do not claim to be. Those organizations own their trademarks and set their own exams; see our trademarks and disclaimer page.
We publish under the organization name rather than individual bylines. We would rather show you the method than assert a credential.
How a practice question is built
Every question follows the same pipeline:
- Start from the published blueprint. The domain structure and weighting come from the issuer’s own exam content outline, not from a competitor’s summary of it.
- Write to the issuer’s question style. ISACA exams turn on a qualifier — BEST, MOST, FIRST, LEAST, EXCEPT — and a question that ignores it is not an ISACA-style question. PECB papers use three options where ISACA uses four.
- Make every distractor defensible. A distractor that nobody could plausibly choose teaches nothing. Each one should represent a real misunderstanding.
- Explain the key and the distractors. Every question carries a worked explanation of why the correct option is correct and why each incorrect option is not.
- Tag it to a domain so your readiness can be reported per domain rather than as one meaningless percentage.
Quality controls we actually enforce
These are checked automatically in our build, not asserted in marketing copy:
- Option count matches the issuer — four for ISACA, three for PECBEnforced
- The letter an explanation cites is the letter the correct option actually appears atEnforced
- Options are shown exactly as authored, so the explanation can never drift from the answerEnforced
- Domain weightings on our pages match the published blueprintEnforced
We are also candid about what is not yet enforced. Answer-position shuffling is deliberately off: the seeded version we tried broke the alignment between an explanation and the letter it refers to, and a correct-but-confusing explanation is worse than a predictable position. We are working on question sets where option length is more even, because an unusually long option can hint at the answer — a known weakness in older material rather than a solved problem.
How exam facts are verified
Question counts, pass marks, formats and eligibility rules are read from the issuer’s own page or candidate handbook — never from a competitor page or an aggregator. Where we publish those facts, we publish the date we last checked them and link the source, so you can re-check them yourself.
Two pages show this in full: ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and ISO 27001 Lead Implementer. When a handbook does not state something — PECB, for instance, publishes no exam duration — we say so rather than repeating a figure we cannot source.
What we will not publish
- No real exam questions. Every item is written from the published blueprint. We do not have live exam content and would not use it.
- No braindumps or “dumps”. Recalled exam content violates the issuer’s terms, and candidates caught using it lose their credential.
- No scraped question banks.
- No guaranteed-pass claims. Our Pass Guarantee is a refund policy with published conditions, not a promise about your result.
- No invented reviews or ratings. We publish no star rating rather than a manufactured one.
How the readiness score is calibrated
Your readiness is reported on the scale your exam actually uses — scaled 200–800 for ISACA exams, 0–1000 for CISSP, a percentage for PECB — and measured against that exam’s real cut score. A full explanation is on how it works.
Corrections
If you find a factual error — a stale exam fact, a wrong pass mark, a question whose explanation does not hold up — email support@certprepx.com. We correct it and re-date the page. Exam bodies change their outlines, and material that is never corrected is material that is quietly going stale.
